Ancient furniture or modern analogue made under the old days is a rather interesting way to give the interior design of a special charm. Any room can look more impressive if there is such a piece of furniture in it. However, despite the fact that finding such furniture in the market or in the store is quite simple, you should think about the opportunity to make it yourself. After all, such an interior item is much more pleasant to the eye than the one that was purchased in the store. So, let’s consider how you can put in your furniture in your soul by analyzing the process of patining furniture with your own hands. A patina is called a raid on a copper surface, which has a greenish-white shade. Patina appears on this metal due to oxidation, and it is this process that allows you to give any surface of the effect of antiquity and special antique. Consider, for example, such an option – you have furniture in fairly good condition, but you want to update its appearance. Let’s start. DIY furniture itself involves the use of two types of paint – the main color, which will be used as a tone and top layer, which will give furniture of special antique. For work we will use acrylic and emulsion paint. You will also need brushes of various sizes in order to give our patin the most original species. If desired, you can also arm yourself with a painting roller, it will add diversity with another texture. So, the basis is emulsion paint, which is applied to the entire surface of the furniture. Previously, of course, it is necessary to work out furniture with sandpaper in order to remove the old coating. After the entire surface of the furniture was covered with paint, we need to leave our future masterpiece for a day, so that the paint is well dried. After that we proceed to direct creativity. The upper layer of paint can simulate metal, and also be a little darker than the base – then the most original appearance of the furniture will be obtained. If you set yourself the goal of aging furniture, you must use almost a dry brush, applying the paint of the second layer. After the surface is processed in this way – let the paint be fixed a bit and carefully carefully care for this layer with dry fabric. A darker shade will turn out in the corners and edges of the furniture – we need it. After the end of the entire procedure, on convex surfaces of the furniture you can apply gold paint. Also, patination of furniture with your own hands can be carried out using the technique of applying foil until the first layer of paint has dried up. After the paint dries diligently clean the surface with a skin or iron brush. Further, if desired, you can cover the furniture with varnish, in order to save on a long unsurpassed patination effect.
