In the two -layer walls, one of them is responsible for the design, the second is a heater (mineral wool or polystyrene foam). The supporting layer, therefore, can be made of cheaper material. In the three-layer walls, except for the bearing layer (15-30 cm) and insulation (8-15 cm), there is also a layer that protects the insulation from mechanical damage, as well as from atmospheric effects. It is used for it, as a rule, clinker brick.
